It all started when I shuffled the music on my iPod. I went from listening to Day26, Common, then zoned out (as I normally do listening to music) & all of a sudden the beat dropped and I heard..."This is the Carter y'all welcome, hard as Malcolm..." and I lost it! Any Wayne fan should know where that came from... If not, It was the Walk In from The Carter ( The Original ). I was so geeked it was ridiculous. I literally felt like crying. I had forgot all about THAT Wayne. I felt this sudden flood of emotions. The emotions I once felt that hit me with such intensity, the emotions that could only be evoked by Wayne. I couldn't help but to smile. The Wayne that had THAT effect on me made me fall in love with music, with him. He was the first artist that I truly could claim I was a fan of. But THAT Wayne is gone. I never feel that way anymore. He broadened his base to appeal to the fakes. The people that'd love anything Wayne did, because well, it was Wayne and because he was hot. The people who claimed to be fans because they liked all of his music but never listened to the Lights Out album, The Squad Up Mixtapes, The Young Money Mixtapes, and the list goes on. The people who claimed to be fans but could only sing the commercial songs. Either way, at the end of it all I am not a fan of this NEW Wayne, but whenever he comes back to his roots, I'll be all on his ass like some break lights.
