Zines have been elevated to the next level. Hundreds of privately owned Zines, Magazines, and other publications are being hosted at Issuu.com. Issuu allows users to upload material such as books, magazines, portfolios and other traditionally printed material. Although, Issuu is designed for viewing these items online, if you tend to lean towards the traditional side you may also download or save these items as well.
Viewing online isn't as complicated as one may think. I mean, you can't leave post-its, make markings or bend pages to review later but with the animated page flipping and zoom capabilities it's quite an enjoyable experience.
The only drawback, if you'd call it that, is that these are not well known published magazines like Nylon or Blender. However, if those are more your cup of tea you can try Zinio.com. But, the cost per digitial issue is pretty much the same price you'd pay for the hard copy, so unless you're into saving trees that may not be the best option.
